13101070_1168793636504924_977635401_nIn the past year, 1.143 divorces were registered in Republika Srpska, the largest number of them being recorded in Banja Luka (294) and the least in Doboj, only 66.

Statisticians calculated that every fifth marriage in Republika Srpska ends with a divorce.

When it comes to this issue, RS is above the European average. The divorce rate in EU was two divorced marriages per 1.000 people, and in the RS the rate was 0.8.

Data of the entity Institute for Statistics shows that the average length of marriage before the divorce in the RS is 12.9 years.

Nearly 22 percent of couples divorced between the first and the fifth year of marriage, and 22.7 percent of couples decided to divorce between fifth and ninth year of marriage. However, the largest number of divorces occurs after fifteen and more years of marriage.

Average age of husbands during divorce is 42.4 years, and of wives 38.9 years.

Statistics show that 29.1 percent of divorced couples had no children together, 23.1 percent had one child, and 27.9 percent had more children.
