The ‘Dragons’ are ready for the Start of the Qualification and the Duel against Estonia

The women’s national football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina will play the first match of the new cycle of European qualifications for the 2027 FIFA World Cup in Brazil tomorrow at the Training Center of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Zenica, where their opponent will be Estonia.

The match starts at 1:00 p.m. and admission is free. In the same time slot, on Saturday, March 7, “Dragons” will play against Liechtenstein, which, as BiH coach Selver Hodžić pointed out at the press conference today, is playing in the qualifiers for the first time.

“There are new qualifications, new energy, a lot of new, younger players. We rejuvenated the team. We worked quite seriously on physics, tactics, on the mental segment… The girls are ready and did everything we asked of them, so that tomorrow they will be ready from the first minute to give their all. Estonia is a solid team, but I think we have to position ourselves and impose our game from the first minute,” said Hodžić, Fena news agency writes.

They must, he stressed, apply their principles, but also consider themselves the favorites of this group, in which Lithuania also plays.

Andrea Čule missed these preparations due to injury, and was replaced by Đula Velagić from SFK 2000 Sarajevo, but there are 23 players available, who are ready to play.

A new player is goalkeeper Somea Položen, who changed her sports citizenship and, instead of Sweden, decided to continue her career with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Položen is a young and modern goalkeeper, but she needs to fit into our system, the way we play, but I am sure that with her we have got someone for the next 10 years in that position,” believes Hodžić.

Young Glorija Slišković points out that she is looking forward to the new gathering, as part of which they will also have two important matches.

“The team is ready. We have worked hard these days. We are playing both matches at home, which is, of course, a positive thing. It’s different when you play away games and when you play home games at home. I am happy and glad to be here again, with the team. We hope for victories,” said Slišković, who believes that she will justify the role of favorite in both matches.

The more experienced Marija Aleksić also points out that they are ready, but that they have been focusing on Estonia during their preparations for the past few days.

“It’s our first game. We had nice days, very good training sessions and I think we are fully ready. Perhaps the best atmosphere and energy in the team. All 23 players are ready for the match,” said Aleksić.
