The football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina is entering the final stage of preparations for the decisive match of the group stage of the World Cup against Qatar, which will be played on Wednesday in Seattle. Today, Sergej Barbarez’s team will do the last training session in Salt Lake City before leaving for the host city of the match, in which they will try to secure a place in the knockout phase of the competition.
Dragons’ training is scheduled for 18:00 CET, after which the team will fly to Seattle. Upon arrival, the final media and organizational activities will follow before perhaps the most important meeting of the championship so far.
The fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be playing in their home kit for the first time at this year’s World Cup will draw the fans’ special attention. As they will have the status of formal hosts in the duel with Qatar, the B&H national team players will run onto the field in the traditional blue combination with yellow details – blue jersey, shorts and cleats.
Goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj will wear orange equipment, while the reserve players on the bench will again be recognizable by pink markers.
In the previous two matches of the group stage, against Canada and Switzerland, the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina played in away jerseys. The match against Qatar will thus be the Dragons’ first appearance in home equipment at the 2026 World Cup.
In addition to the significance of the result, the meeting in Seattle also brings a certain symbolism, as the BiH team will play for the first time on the biggest football stage in the colors that have represented the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina for years.
Trip to Seattle and press conference
After training in Salt Lake City, the national team will head to Seattle, where Sergej Barbarez will hold an official press conference at the Lumen Field stadium together with one of the players.
The press conference is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. local time, or 3:45 a.m. local time in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The match between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Qatar will be played on Wednesday at 12:00 local time, or 21:00 our time.
After the matches against Canada and Switzerland, which brought the young Dragons team valuable experience playing on the world’s biggest football stage, the Bosnian national team faces a new big challenge.
At stake is a place among the best teams in the tournament and a continuation of their appearance at the World Cup, which would represent another significant chapter in the history of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
