Russia is not trying to impose foreign policy choices and priorities on Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the events of recent years show that NATO is not interested in lasting peace and stability in Europe, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bosnia and Herzegovina announced today.
On the occasion of the interview of General Pamela McGaha, commander of the NATO headquarters in Sarajevo, for “Oslobođenje”, the Russian Embassy in BiH emphasized that “nothing new has appeared in the rhetorical arsenal of officials of the North Atlantic Alliance”.
“General McGaha once again used the exhausted theses about ‘malign Russian influence’ that we have already heard from several Western politicians, including NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg,” the Russian Embassy responded.
The Russian Embassy points out that absurd insinuations about alleged “hacker intrusions”, “disinformation”, “intimidation” and “other destabilizing activities” of Russia are repeated without an attempt to provide at least one proof or example of such activities.
“However, in today’s Europe, NATO has become an instrument and source of destabilization. The events of recent years show that the Alliance, despite the statements of officials at all levels, is not interested in lasting peace and stability in Europe,” according to the Russian Embassy.
The announcement emphasizes that the NATO member states, as well as the Alliance itself, ignored the numerous proposals of the Russian leadership for the creation of a new, fairer security system in Europe, trying to completely exclude Russia from the European security architecture.
“It has become obvious that the North Atlantic Alliance is nothing more than an instrument used by the US for foreign policy control and the sale of American weapons around the world, which often contains a corrupt component. A good illustration of this is the announcement by American analysts that about 90 percent of the money used for military aid “Washington to the Kyiv regime remains in the USA,” the announcement states.
The Russian Embassy points out that even in these conditions, the intention of one of the candidates in the US presidential elections to leave the Alliance in case of victory is a testament to the meaninglessness of NATO.
“For our part, we have repeatedly emphasized that Russia is not trying to impose foreign policy choices and priorities on Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, when making our decisions, we will start from a deep analysis of the objective military-political situation in the Balkans and in Europe in general,” notes the Russian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Commander of the NATO headquarters in Sarajevo, Brigadier General Pamela McGaha, told “Oslobođenje” that NATO has a strong interest in enabling a stable and prosperous Bosnia and Herzegovina and peace in the Western Balkans, and called on Russia to play a constructive role in this region.
She stated that Russia “regularly does the exact opposite, which can be seen through hacker intrusions, disinformation, intimidation and other destabilizing activities.”
