The EU has prepared Assistance to medical Units in the BiH Armed Forces

The European Council adopted a € 6 million European Peace Fund (EPF) assistance measure for the Balkan Medical Task Force (BMTF).

It is important to note that the assistance measure will support the capacity building of the BMTF by procuring the necessary equipment and materials for the medical units of the Armed Forces of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia, which participate in the BMTF.

“In this context, the measure aims to strengthen the region’s military medical capacity and efforts to provide assistance to civilians, and ultimately contribute to regional cooperation and cohesion. To achieve the goal, the measure will help fund funding for mobility, components for field hospitals under role 2 ‘, laboratory equipment and supplies, and IT and communication equipment, “ the statement said.

The Republic of North Macedonia requested assistance on behalf of the BMTF in April 2022.

Namely, the EPF was established in 2021 to support partners around the world in the fields of military and defense, with the ultimate goal of preventing conflict, preserving peace, and strengthening international security and stability.

The BMTF was established as a regional initiative bringing together six participating countries, Albania, BiH, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia, to provide a rapid and effective response to disaster-stricken countries or regions using existing military medical capabilities.

Each of the six participating countries takes on the role of “Framework Nation” on a two-year rotation basis. North Macedonia covers this role for the period from June 2020 to June 2022, Klix.ba writes.
