Denmark’s government has ordered the military to protect Jews, their property and Israeli property amid growing anti-Semitism and the threat of terrorism in the Scandinavian country.
The Danish Ministry of Defense announced that soldiers will help protect a number of locations, including the Israeli embassy and a synagogue in Copenhagen, according to Israeli media citing Bloomberg.
“The terrorist threat against Denmark is serious,” said Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsenm, adding that “the conflict in the Middle East has led to a completely unacceptable increase in anti-Semitism and greater insecurity among Jews in Denmark.”
Denmark, a country with 5.9 million people, is home to nearly 7,000 Jews and 250,000 Muslims.
