The Exhibition on the Intangible Cultural Heritage organized

An exhibition named “Intangible Cultural Heritage in the FBiH” was organized by the Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture in BiH “Stecak”, and it took place in the Art Gallery of BiH in Sarajevo. This exhibition was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the FBiH.

Twelve cultural elements from the Preliminary Open List of Intangible Cultural Heritage / Heritage of the FBiH were presented through photography, video materials and individual items created through different traditional techniques.

These elements are woodcarving from Konjic, the craft of lace making, Pilgrimage on Ajvatovica – Prusac, Pilgrimage of St. Ivo – Podmilacje, pottery making in Lijesevo, mowing customs in Kupres, art of singing sevdalinka songs, jumps from the Old Bridge in Mostar etc.

The exhibits are from the Ethnographic collection of the Monastery – Spiritual center “Carmel of St. Ilija” on Busko Lake, near Tomislavgrad. The exhibits will also include the old, handmade, Bosnian girl’s room, created by Hamdija Kadic (1896 – 1989) from Konjic, who is well-known for refusing to use any type of machines and handmade created his furniture.

One of the largest laces created by Edina Brka from Tesanj will be exhibited in this room.

Zvonko Martic set the exhibition, and author of the photos is Jasmin Fazlagic. The guests of the exhibition are representatives of lace-makers from Lepoglava, and this lace is included on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, as announced from the Art Gallery of BiH in Sarajevo.
