The Federation is ready to offer two reception centers to refugees from Ukraine

While our neighbors – Serbia and Croatia – are already ready to welcome and offer help, Bosnia and Herzegovina is still considering options and possibilities on how to help refugees from Ukraine. Humanitarian organizations are more specific.

As of tomorrow, the BiH Red Cross will put into use the unique humanitarian number 17023 to help the population of Ukraine. BH citizens donate two marks by calling this number.

“In this way, we are preparing for our national society, the Red Cross of BiH with our entire structure: the Red Cross of Republika Srpska, the Red Cross of the Federation of BiH, the Red Cross of Brcko District to respond to the preparations for the appeal to be announced by the International Committee of the Red Cross, and a special appeal that will be issued by our family, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies “, states Rajko Lazic, Secretary General of the Red Cross of BiH.

The war did not bring anything good to anyone, but leaves behind dead, wounded and destroyed family homes, according to Caritas BiH. Therefore, they called for assistance to the population of war-torn Ukraine.

“Citizens can help either by paying into our current account, giro account or by calling the unique humanitarian number 17764. This is how they donate two convertible marks,” said Dijana Muzička, Caritas BiH’s emergency and project manager.

While the representatives of humanitarian and non-governmental organizations are taking measures, concrete moves by the competent BiH. institutions are waiting. For now, initiatives. State parliamentarian Sasa Magazinovic asked the Council of Ministers for BiH to launch humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Foreign Minister Bisera Turkovic also requested an emergency session.
