These are the five countries that control most of the world’s gold.

In fifth place is Russia, which holds 2.336 tons of gold. Ahead of it is France with a reserve of 2.437 tons of gold.

In third place is Italy with close to 2.452 tons, an enormous treasure that keeps its economy stable during any crisis.

In second place is Germany, which stores almost 3.352 tons, most of which is kept in ultra-secure vaults both at home and abroad.

And finally, number one, with an incredible 8.133 tons of gold, mostly within the legendary Fort Knox, is the United States (U.S.).

Countries with the most unmined gold

Russia and Australia: These two countries are tied as the world’s largest holders of unmined gold, with approximately 12.000 tons each.

South Africa: Third in unmined reserves.

Indonesia: Holds the fourth-largest unmined reserves.

The largest gold producers

China: The leading annual producer of gold.

Russia: Second in annual production.

Australia: The third-largest annual producer on the planet, N1 writes.
