In front of the Islamic Center in Rijeka, Croatia, a monument to the Flower of Srebrenica was unveiled last night.
At the Islamic Center, a round table entitled “From testimony to resolution” was first held, and at the beginning, the chief imam of the MIZ Rijeka, Hidajet Hasanovic, greeted the attendees.
Those present were also greeted by the archbishop of Rijeka, Msgr. Mato Uzinić, representative of the prefect of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Ms. Ermina Duraj, representative of the President of the Croatian Parliament, member of parliament Armin Hodžić, ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Republic of Croatia, H.E. E. Elma Kovačević Bajtal and mufti academician Aziz ef. Hasanović.
Hasanović said that the round table was organized within the program of commemorating the genocide in Srebrenica. He emphasized the importance of the testimony, which is one of the foundations of the resolution adopted in the General Assembly of the United Nations. He especially emphasized the struggle of the mothers of Srebrenica, who contributed the most to the adoption of the Resolution with their truth and testimony.
He thanked the Republic of Croatia for co-sponsoring the Resolution on Srebrenica adopted in the UN General Assembly and for supporting the commemoration of the anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica.
After the round table in front of the Islamic Center, a monument in the shape of the Srebrenica flower was ceremonially unveiled, AA writes.
