The member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, spoke today with the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, about the current situation in the Middle East and bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Egypt.
This is the first conversation between the top leaders of the two countries after more than a decade.
During a telephone conversation about the current situation in the Middle East, they agreed that an immediate stop to the violence and killing of innocent civilians in Gaza is necessary.
Bećirović once again strongly condemned the attacks on civilians and the bombing, in which children and women are mostly killed.
BiH Presidency member stated that stopping the war, achieving a just peace and establishing two states – Israel and Palestine is the only long-term solution. He emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to insist on this solution in all international forums.
Bećirović pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina respects the important role and actions of Egypt in the direction of urgently resolving the current situation in Gaza, in accordance with international law, in order to stop the violence and killing of innocent people.
He emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina is in constant communication with our embassy in Egypt, for the purpose of evacuating Bosnia and Herzegovina’s citizens from Gaza, and expressed the hope that they will be able to evacuate as soon as possible.
Bećirović and el-Sisi also discussed the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Egypt, a leading Arab country with over 110 million inhabitants. Bosnia and Herzegovina has good bilateral cooperation with Egypt, and there is a possibility that it will be significantly improved.
During the conversation, Bećirović emphasized that bilateral relations can be improved in the field of economic, defense, educational and cultural cooperation, as well as in the field of tourism.
