The former prime minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Fadil Novalić, who was sentenced to four years in prison for abusing his position or authority when procuring respirators from China, is going to prison on Friday.

According to Klix.ba’s information from reliable sources, Novalić accepted the court’s decision today, according to which he must go to prison, after previously requesting a postponement of his prison sentence. Therefore, no later than Friday, Novalić must report to Vojković State Prison, where he will serve his sentence.

Novalić’s legal team previously submitted a request for a postponement of the execution of the sentence, which was rejected. However, they appealed again, considering that Novalić has the right to postpone the execution in view of his non-postponable business obligations. The judge did not agree with the allegations in the complaint, so he ordered Novalić to go to prison without delay.

The former director of the Federal Administration of Civil Protection, Fahrudin Solak, who was sentenced to six years in prison in the “Respiratori” affair, reported to the prison in Vojkovići to serve his sentence, said the director of the prison, Siniša Perković.

Perković said that Solak reported to serve his prison sentence last night.

Solak was sentenced to six years in prison for procuring Chinese ventilators during the pandemic caused by the coronavirus.

After the second-instance verdict, he submitted a request to delay going to prison, but the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina rejected the request.

The owner of the company “Srebrena Malina” Fikret Hodžić was sentenced due to the disputed purchase of ventilators, worth 10.5 million BAM, who previously reported to serve a five-year sentence.
