The Prime Minister of Canton Sarajevo (CS) Nihad Uk, the Minister of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees Enda Pavic Pecenkovic, the Minister of Finance Afan Kalamujic and the Minister of Communal Utility Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction, and Environmental Protection Bojan Bosnjak on Friday hosted the delegation of the Government of Catalonia, which included the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the European Union (EU) Meritxell Serret Aleu and the delegate of the Government of Catalonia in Southeast Europe Eric Hauck.

The meeting highlighted the mutual respect that exists between these two regions, and the gratitude for the help that Barcelona provided to Sarajevo when the city was going through the most difficult moments of the siege, which has continued to this day.

In the past period, based on the Cooperation Agreement dating from 2008, a Work Program was established and signed, with the aim of defining common spheres of interest for cooperation.

Both sides expressed their wish that now, appreciating the stabilized political conditions, the established cooperation would be intensified through public-private partnership, sustainable tourism, public budgeting, programs to help victims of violence, digitization of public administration…

At the meeting, they also discussed the current topic of promoting electromobility, as well as air and water pollution, perennial problems of the CS, which are not unknown to Catalonia either.

The topic that has been agreed as a priority is the establishment of a traffic connection between these two regions, more precisely, the introduction of a Sarajevo-Barcelona air route, Biznis Info reports.
