The cabinet of the president of North Macedonia has announced the latest case in which the ambassador of Greece left the inauguration ceremony in Skopje after the newly appointed president used the old term for the name of the country.

Among other things, the cabinet stated that Siljanovska has the right to use the old term for the name of the state.

“In her public appearances, the Macedonian president has the right to use the name Macedonia, as an act of personal right to self-determination and self-identification, respecting basic human rights and freedoms, and in accordance with European values and principles,” the cabinet stated.

It was also emphasized that the president will adhere to the official name of the country – North Macedonia in official documents.

“President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova will adhere to the official application of the constitutional name. According to the Constitution, as prepared by the services of the Assembly, the solemn oath was signed with the constitutional name. In the last five years, Macedonian institutions have almost completely fulfilled their obligations from the Prespa Agreement, and the president expects all Macedonian partners to respect bilateral and multilateral agreements towards the country,” it was announced, Klix.ba writes.
