Indirect Taxation Administration (ITA) officers seized half a ton of cut dry tobacco in the Sarajevo Canton (KS).

During the inspection of two motor vehicles and two persons, cut dry tobacco was temporarily seized.

On that occasion, on the instructions of the duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, a total of 528.5 kg of finely cut dry smoking tobacco with an estimated value of approximately 105,700 BAM was temporarily seized, which was not marked with excise stamps and was intended for illegal sale.

During the implementation of the above activities, ITA officers were assisted by police officers of the Ministry of Interior of the Sarajevo Canton.

A report on the committed criminal offense and the perpetrator will be submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina against the perpetrators of the described illegalities, and due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that the criminal offense “Illegal trade in excise products” from Article 210a of the Criminal Code of BiH was committed.

The Indirect Taxation Administration invites all citizens to report any form of illegal trade, tax or customs evasion to the ITA hotline number 080 02 06 07. All calls are free and completely anonymous.
