Today, Indonesia is counted among the nations with upper-middle incomes. Furthermore, Ambassador Roem Kono also stated that Indonesia is in the process of relocating a new capital city that focuses on sustainable development, with advanced systems for transportation and waste management.

Indonesia’s economic competitiveness has improved, moving up to the position 34 in 2023 from position 44. Indonesia is committed to implementing a downstream industry policy, particularly in three main sectors, agro-based, mining and coal-based industries.

Indonesia is in the process of relocating its capital city to Kalimantan, which aims to address challenges, such as increasing population, traffic congestion, and environmental issues. The new capital will focus on sustainable environment, featuring green spaces, efficient transportation systems and advanced waste management.

Since the beginning of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia, our nation has always integrated a “Free and Active” foreign policy.

“As the Chair of ASEAN in 2023, Indonesia also continues to promote ASEAN potential and strategic advantages. Indonesia wishes world to recognize that ASEAN matters as the epicentre of growth.

On bilateral matters, Ambassador Roem Kono highlighted the strengthening of the relations, “Total trade in June 2023 showed an increase of 196%.
