The Israeli Army killed an American Activist in the occupied West Bank

Israeli forces killed an American activist on Friday during a protest against illegal Israeli settlements in the town of Beita in Nablus district, in the occupied West Bank.

Fouad Nafaa, director of Rafidia Hospital, told Anadolu that the woman, who had American citizenship, was brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.

“We tried to revive her, but she succumbed to her injuries,” Nafaa said.

Eyewitnesses stated that Israeli soldiers opened fire on a group of Palestinians who participated in a demonstration condemning the illegal settlements on Mount Sbeih in Beita, south of Nablus.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA confirmed that the victim is an American citizen and volunteer for the Fazaa campaign, an initiative that aims to support and protect Palestinian farmers from ongoing violations by illegal Israeli settlers and the military.

Residents of Beita hold weekly protests after Juma prayers, Muslims’ Friday prayers, to oppose the illegal Israeli settlement of Avitar, which was established on top of Mount Sbeih. The community is demanding the removal of the illegal settlement, which they consider a violation of their land rights.

Tensions have escalated across the occupied West Bank as Israel continues its assault on the Gaza Strip, which has killed nearly 40,900 Palestinians, mostly women and children, since October 7 last year. At least 691 people have been killed and more than 5,700 wounded in Israeli attacks in the West Bank since then, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, AA writes.
