Summer Screen programme of the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival seeks to capture the spirit of the Competition Programme at this year’s Cannes Film Festival through a selection of films that reflects the range of artistic voices and themes defining the official selection. Despite their diversity, they share a common thread: they tell stories of people trying to live with loss, find a sense of belonging, build or preserve their identity, come to terms with themselves, or become a new version of who they are. It is as though this year, filmmakers chose to turn away from grand narratives and focus instead on what is most intimate and deeply human.
This year’s Summer Screen program brings six of the latest works by great world authors Cristian Mungiu, Hirokazu Kore-eda, Ryūsuke Hamaguchi, Marie Kreutzer, Jeanne Herry and Léa Mysius.
