The legendary Football Player of Sarajevo, Sead Jesenkovic, passed away

The famous football player of Sarajevo, Sead Jesenkovic, died today at the age of 81.

Jesenkovic will be remembered as part of the first championship generation of the club from Koševo in 1967. He was an indispensable member of the first lineup of the Bordeaux team that conquered Yugoslavia.

He played 161 games for Sarajevo and scored one goal. Including unofficial matches, he collected a total of 256 appearances for Sarajevo.

“After the end of his playing career, he devoted himself to coaching, and he spent most of his coaching career at his own Koševo, where he worked in the professional staff of the first team, but also with youth categories.

In the seasons 1998/99. and 2001/02. on several occasions he led the first team from the bench. The first is at the end of the 1998/99 season. replaced Nermin Hadžiahmetović who resigned three rounds before the end of the championship.

With Sarajevo, he managed to eliminate Željezničar in the semi-finals of the BiH Cup, but in the final match he was defeated by Bosna from Visoca in Koševo. Then, three years later, due to Fuad Muzurović’s health problems, he was also in the role of coach. In total, as the first coach, he led the team in eight official matches,” reports Bordo vremeplov.
