Interview with The legendary Halid Beslic: We must be united despite the Tragedies

Exactly two weeks remain until the big humanitarian concert “You Are Not Alone” in the Zenica Arena, when folk music legend Halid Bešlić, Gibonni, Bajaga and the “Blue Orchestra” will sing for the audience.

A sad occasion

The idea behind the spectacle, whose financial income is intended to help those affected by the floods that hit Bosnia and Herzegovina in early October, claiming as many as 27 lives and leaving many homeless, is producer Tomislav Kašljević, a Zenica resident with a Zagreb address.

“A good team of people gathered, they asked me too, I accepted and that’s it. The Zenica hall is very beautiful, and the audience is good. All in all, it’s a nice occasion for the concert, but also a sad one. You can feel the togetherness, that we are here for each other, that we think of each other,” Bešlić told “Dnevni Avaz“.

In response to our statement that we are always united and the most agreeable in tragedies, Bešlić said:

“And that’s luck. But, unfortunately, we are only good at that time, and at other times we are not. We should work on making sure that we are well despite the tragedies.”

Throughout his decades-long career, Bešlić has proven more than once that he is a man with a huge heart. He said, he saw for himself that the people rose up with the desire to help the victims.

A major disaster

“But nothing can be done overnight. You just have to go slowly, step by step. The fuss is about the railway to be repaired, to establish traffic. It’s not that easy, and people may be expecting too much. I am satisfied with the response, from the institutions to the people, how it all unfolds. It will be, God willing, good. Nothing can be done overnight, because it is such a disaster that it will certainly take several years to rehabilitate it,” pointed out Bešlić.

Jubilee New Year’s concert

Bešlić is also preparing for a big concert in Ljubuški on December 28, as well as New Year’s, which he will traditionally spend in Sarajevo’s “Hills” hotel for the tenth year in a row.

”It is a team of people who created conditions for me so that I can express all that I have and what I am worth. It will be the tenth anniversary year in one place. It is much easier for me to sing in Sarajevo for the New Year, than to go somewhere far away. Even if I don’t sing in Sarajevo, that’s the kind of gig it is because people come from Western Europe, Turkey, America, Croatia, Serbia. They also have a nice reason, and hotel, accommodation, atmosphere. The hosts provided me with that, and my name and my songs bring the rest. I am very satisfied,” said Bešlić.
