Gastro guide TasteAtlas presented a list of the 150 most legendary restaurants in the world, and Sarajevo’s Čevabdzinica Željo found its place on it.
“From small, family-run restaurants to esteemed Michelin-starred restaurants, all of these restaurants share a commitment to culinary authenticity. The focus here is on real food with strong flavors, often using treasured recipes passed down through the generations,” says Taste Atlas.
Describing the list they created, they say they explored everything “from dimly lit taverns in Spain and rustic trattorias in Italy, to lively stalls in Asia and cozy French bistros”. Each restaurant has its own story, preserving its culture, preserving traditions and creating lasting memories.
“These are establishments that have remained relevant and highly regarded in an ever-changing culinary landscape. Our list celebrates these enduring icons of gastronomy, restaurants that prioritize substance, serving food that is simply delicious,” they said.

The first place on the list was taken by a restaurant founded in 1905, namely Figlmuller in Vienna. It is followed by Katz’s Delicatessen from New York, and then Warung Mak Beng from Sanur, Indonesia.
One restaurant from Bosnia and Herzegovina was also on the list – Sarajevo’s Čevabdžinica Željo. The well-known kebab shop was ranked 68th on the list, Klix.ba reports.
