Mothers and wives from Srebrenica and Podrinje held peaceful protests on the 11th of this month at Tuzla’s Freedom Square with the message that they will never give up the search for the remains of their loved ones.
They warned on this occasion that, as before every election, as well as this year’s, victims of genocide are insulted in the pre-election campaign, and that now it has gone a step further and a decision has been made that children in schools in the RS entity learn about convicted war criminals Radovan Karadžić and Ratko Mladić as heroes.
“See how far it goes. We have our grandchildren in schools whose fathers, grandfathers, and cousins were killed by villains on the orders of Karadžić and Mladić, and now these children should learn about them as heroes. As far as I know, we still have a high representative. I call on Christian Schmidt to react because the truth about Karadžić and Mladić, as well as other criminals, is documented in the judgments of the Hague Tribunal,” says the president of the “Women of Srebrenica” Association, Nura Begović.
Other mothers and women from Srebrenica and Podrinje also expressed their indignation at the decision of the RS Ministry of Education to teach about convicted war criminals in schools.
When it comes to the search for their loved ones, they said that they will never give up until the last victim of the Bosniak genocide is found.
