The Parliament of the Netherlands adopted the text of the Resolution, which leaves the possibility for the Prime Minister to vote for the decision to open negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina at the session of the European Council in Brussels.
According to the media, the Parliament is of the opinion that until the date of the opening of negotiations, BiH must fulfill certain conditions.
This means that Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has the green light to vote “yes”, but that he must insist on the Netherlands’ demands.
The Resolution states that BiH has achieved some progress, but that it has not fully met the previously set requirements in the area of rule of law, migration, fight against corruption, stability of institutions and harmonization with the EU acquis.
They called for adherence to the principles derived from the criteria adopted at the end of 2023 in Copenhagen, which refer to the precise drafting of a negotiating framework that would contain firmly and clearly formulated conditions for BiH in order to officially open negotiations.
The meeting of the European Council, where, among other things, the possible opening of negotiations between BiH and the EU will be discussed, will be held tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.
After numerous recommendations from officials of European countries, the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina can rightfully expect positive news from Brussels. After the summit of the European Council, it will be known in which direction the European future of Bosnia and Herzegovina will go, BHRT writes.
