Sephardic Night is a traditional event that has been held for 18 years within the “Bascarsija Nights”. In the beginning, it was a presentation of Sephardic cuisine, and today it is a performance that encompasses Sephardic culture and tradition, what Sephardim brought to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) from distant Spain.
This year’s program is titled “The Keys of Spain”, and it is about a beautiful legend that speaks of how the Jews, fleeing from Spain 500 years ago, took the keys to their homes with them in the hope that one day they would return to Spain. They did not only bring the keys to their homes but also brought their Ladino language, their proverbs, their culture and tradition, Sephardic cuisine, and Sephardic romance.
Entrance to the program is free, it was announced.
