Employment with a falsified diploma is not a rare phenomenon in Canton Sarajevo (CS). This is shown by the data obtained by the Anticorruption and Quality Control Office of the CS.
And not only that. Once it is established that someone has a falsified diploma, they remain employed at that workplace.
Who works with falsified diplomas in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)?
Among those working in BiH with falsified diplomas is the director of the Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired Persons of BiH, Sakib Pleh. He was sentenced to a suspended sentence of one and a half years for forging a diploma last year.
However, Pleh is still the director of that library, regardless of the fact that he has a falsified diploma.
13 people with falsified diplomas are also employed in the Health Center of the CS, it was stated in the data of the Anticorruption and Quality Control Office of the CS.
‘Falsified’ diplomas from the post-war period?
Erduan Kafedzic, the head of the Anticorruption and Quality Control Office of the CS, says that the diplomas that were the subject of checks were mostly falsified in the post-war period.
He also emphasizes how employers in the public sector are looking for space to “retain workers with falsified diplomas through systematization changes”.
“Someone who worked with a high school diploma, when they found that he had a falsified diploma, they changed the systematization and put someone with an elementary school in that position and that person de facto remains in the company as an employee,” Kafedzic explained, Slobodna Evropa reports.
