The second team of rescuers from the Mountain Rescue Service of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH GSS) traveled to Turkey this morning, where they will join other teams in the rescue operation after the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey and neighboring Syria.

“The first rescue team left last night and today we are sending off the second team and the necessary logistics for their operation. A total of more than 50 members of the FBiH Mountain Rescue Service are involved in the rescue operation in the areas affected by the devastating earthquake,” the president of the FBiH GSS Dženadin Veladžić told FENA.

He added that the activities of the FBiH GSS will be coordinated with AFAD – the Turkish agency responsible for protection and rescue measures, and in accordance with the needs and priorities on the ground.

In the meantime, other teams, including members of the FBiH Administration of Civil Protection (FUCZ) and medics, trained for rescuing from the ruins, traveled to Turkey from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A specialized RS Civil Protection Administration rescue team also traveled to Turkey.
