The suspect for the murder of a 14-year-old girl in Skopje and a 74-year-old man in the vicinity of Veles was arrested in Turkey, Macedonian Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski confirmed. He said that he expects that he will be extradited to North Macedonia soon.
Spasovski also showed the journalists the confirmation of the arrest of Lj. P. which they received from the Turkish Interpol.
The Macedonian minister thanked the police of Turkey, Serbia and Bulgaria who provided information on the movements of Lj. P., as well as Croatia, which independently checked whether he is in that country, because there is a warrant for him in Croatia.
–Criminal charges filed against five people-
Spasovski stated that criminal charges have been filed against five people for double murder.
One of them is suspected of murder and kidnapping, three of them are suspected of kidnapping and complicity in murder, and one of aiding and abetting, the minister added.
-“The suspect fled from Skopje to Belgrade, then arrived in Turkey via Bulgaria”-
The Macedonian minister stated that the suspect Lj. P. fled from North Macedonia to Serbia, where he stayed in a hotel in Belgrade on November 30.
Then a person from Skopje transported him from Belgrade via Bulgaria to Turkey.
He was staying there in Balikesir, and through Turkish sources they found out that he wanted to go to Istanbul.
He was arrested while walking on the highway in Balikesir, the minister said.
Fourteen-year-old Vanja Đorčevska was kidnapped and almost the entire region searched for her for seven days, only to be announced at the weekend that she had been killed and that her body was found buried not far from Skopje.
The monstrous murder of the minor Vanja disturbed the citizens of North Macedonia and the countries of the region, and a petition was launched on social networks demanding the death penalty for the girl’s killer.
Chief Public Prosecutor Gavril Bubevski said that the most severe punishments will be imposed for these criminal acts.
He also pointed out that the murdered man from Veles had no relationship with the girl, but that the car she was later kidnapped was taken from him because of a debt.
Three people have been detained on suspicion of participating in this crime, as well as Vanya’s father, who is suspected of having given the kidnappers and killers information about when she would be alone.
At the hearing at the Prosecutor’s Office, the girl’s father denied guilt and involvement in this crime.
During that time, the shocked citizens of Skopje write in the book of mourning.
