The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it had carried out airstrikes against targets belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and its other groups in Iraq and Syria.

CENTCOM said it carried out the first strikes in the region in response to an attack on a US base on the Syrian-Jordanian border on January 28.

The statement said at least 85 targets belonging to the Quds Force of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and their associates in Syria and Iraq were hit in the airstrikes.

It is added that long-range bombers that took off from the United States of America were also involved in the attacks and that more than 125 guided bombs were used.

The announcement states that command and control centers, rockets, missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles were targeted.

In the attack on the American base on January 28, three American soldiers were killed and more than 40 were wounded.

The US administration has announced that in response to the attack, it will launch large-scale attacks and will target Iran-backed groups, Hina news agency reports.
