The US intelligence services received information a few weeks ago that “Iran is seriously planning to assassinate Donald Trump,” CNN claims.
According to the information published by this American media, the National Security Council (NSC) of the USA received information from the intelligence services that the government in Iran wants to assassinate Trump.
They forwarded the information to the Secret Service, which is responsible for the security of the former US president, who advised him not to hold outdoor rallies and to increase security measures.
The NSC says that so far there is no link between these threats from Tehran and what Thomas Matthew Crooks did, who tried to kill Trump on July 13 at a rally in the state of Pennsylvania.
As CNN further writes, the potential reason for Iran’s alleged threat is the assassination of General Qasem Soleimani in January 2020, when the USA was led by Trump.
The permanent mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations is the origin of claims of an Iranian plot to assassinate Trump.
“These accusations are baseless and malicious. From the perspective of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Trump is a criminal who must be prosecuted and punished in court for ordering the assassination of General Soleimani. Iran has chosen the legal path to bring him to justice,” said a spokesman in told CNN.
