The US warned Israel not to respond to Hezbollah’s Attack

Israel does not have US support in its military response to the Hezbollah attack that killed 12 children and injured 44 people on Saturday, Axios claims.

Citing several US and Israeli officials, there has been a message of support from Washington, but no support for any military response.

The US fears that an attack on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, would lead to a greater escalation in the region, which would further worsen the situation.

Officials from Washington even believe that an attack on Beirut would be “crossing the red line” of Hezbollah, and it is difficult to predict what would happen in this region after this move by Israel.

On the other hand, Hezbollah claims that it did not attack children’s playgrounds in the Golan Heights, the part occupied by Israel. The US and Israel immediately blamed the Lebanese group for the deadliest attack on Israeli territory since October 7 of the previous year.

The Israeli government has authorized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant to “devise and execute a military response at their discretion,” though it is hard to expect them to go against the advice coming from the US.
