Today is the warmest Christmas Day in Great Britain for more than 20 years.
The temperature at Heathrow in southwest London reached 15.3 degrees, well above average for this time of year, making it the warmest December 24 in Britain since December 24, 1997.
Everything indicates that Christmas will be the warmest in the past few years and that in parts of Britain the air temperature will reach 14 degrees Celsius.
There will be no “white Christmas” in most of Britain, except in the mountains of northern Scotland.
The warmest December 25 was in 1920, when 15.6 degrees were measured. The highest temperature on Christmas Eve was measured in Aberdeen and Banff in Scotland in 1931, Srna writes.
