Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob is on his first bilateral visit to Germany, and yesterday he met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin. During the visit, Golob also spoke about the need to accelerate the process of integration of countries into the European Union (EU).
During yesterday‘s visit, the Prime Minister of Slovenia pointed out that Germany is Slovenia’s most important foreign trade partner, and since the recognition of independence, its greatest friend and ally.
The key messages sent by Golob during the first bilateral visit to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz are that there are synergies between European countries that can be used so that the continent can survive this winter without forced reductions, with adequate gas savings.
“In order to achieve this, the EU must work together, united. We must do everything to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, whereby investments in solar energy and wind energy are extremely important,” told Golob.
He stressed that the EU must continue to help Ukraine politically, militarily and humanitarianly, and he also talked about the integration of the Western Balkan countries into the EU.
“The countries of the Western Balkans have been in the European waiting room for 20 years. This is too long and therefore apathy is growing in these countries. Germany and Slovenia will do everything to give new momentum to the accession process. And a concrete result: membership in the EU,” said Golob.
Allegedly, the summit of the countries of the Western Balkans should be held in November this year in Berlin, Klix.ba writes.
