There are many challenges before Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially before those who represent and lead it, who for decades have not been able to speak with one voice without calculations and unite the country in terms of results and progress. What the politicians did not know how to do was demonstrated by the young football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina by qualifying for the World Cup.

With their combativeness, kindness, character and patriotism, they played as one and wrote history. They showed that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a future and in June they will take Bosnia and Herzegovina. flag at the World Cup as its best ambassadors. Well done, Dragons – you deserve to be lucky.

Because as one of the 11, young Esmir Bajraktarević, son of a family that survived the genocide in Srebrenica, said: “There was no dilemma: It had to be Bosnia.”

Dario Božić on Bosnia’s victory, which the whole world was talking about.

Changing the course of the national team

It was the same with the national football team, and then coach Sergej Barbarez and sports director Emir Spahić changed course when they came to head the national team.

Numerous football talents who are of origin from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and who, because their parents fled due to the war sufferings that happened in this region, were born all over the world, decided in some way to return to where they want to be and put on a jersey with the national coat of arms.

The vast majority of those young footballers accepted it with enthusiasm and not only played for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but they did it in a great way.

Heroes in football boots

Their grandfathers and fathers fought for their country in a completely different way, and these young men, who were not even born in that unfortunate time, are now on the football field making the nation happy and proud. The real example in this story is Esmir Bajraktarević, the child of a family that survived the genocide in Srebrenica.

He was born in the United States of America ten years after the genocide and not so long ago he was a complete unknown. Now the whole football world is talking about him and many are ready to even own him, although he never had a dilemma where he belongs.

A large number of these young footballers accepted the invitation with enthusiasm. Not only did they play for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but they did it in an extremely high-quality way, confirming their talent and affiliation.

“Since I was a child, I knew in my heart that I would choose Bosnia and Herzegovina. Edin Dzeko is my favorite player. There are videos of me wearing his shirt. I have relatives who still live in Bosnia and Herzegovina and I had to play for my country,” he pointed out.

The way for new generations

He decided with his heart and he decided correctly, but not only him. Most of the national team members who appeared in these qualifications in the BiH jersey were born in other countries and had the opportunity to choose.

Precisely because they could have chosen a probably easier path to the world football competition, but they didn’t, instead they decided to give their magnificent talent and football knowledge to the country of their roots, making them true heroes in football boots.

They are also an example for future generations, because it is quite certain that there are still many Alajbegovićs, Bajraktarevićs, Muharemovićs, Dedićs around the world…

Their time is yet to come, and the path they must follow is now fully illuminated and clear.

And that’s why we don’t doubt how they will decide. The heroes of the present time have shown them and that is why they have every right to enjoy, and to our great luck, they have only just begun.
