According to statistics, last year the most visited city in the world was Istanbul in Turkey.

According to data from the market research company Euromonitor International, during 2023 this metropolis hosted as many as 20.2 million visitors.

It’s no surprise that Istanbul takes the top spot, given its architecture, fascinating history, plus incredible delicacies and tea.

Lee Dobson, founder of travel site Travel City, said Istanbul is a magnet for travelers from the UK and tourists around the world, thanks to its rich culture, history and geography that make it unique and fascinating.

”Located on two continents, Europe and Asia, Istanbul offers an incomparable mix of Eastern and Western traditions, visible in its architecture, traditions and everyday life,” he explained.

After Istanbul, the list of the most visited cities includes London, which took second place, followed by Dubai in third place and another Turkish destination – Antalya – which is in fourth place, reports Metro.
