It’s been ten years since host Ellen DeGeneres sent shockwaves through the former Twitter, now known as X, after posting a selfie with famous Hollywood stars. Namely, at the 86th Academy Awards, the presenter and comedian gathered several celebrities during the ceremony and captured that moment.
The photo of Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Lupita Nyong’o, her brother Junior, Channing Tatum, Kevin Spacey and barely visible Jared Leto quickly went viral. It was shared more than two million times in a period of two hours, and although this moment has gone down in history, many are now joking that the cell phone used to take the photo was haunted.
Over the course of ten years, most of the stars from the photo experienced personal or professional problems. The host of the popular The Ellen DeGeneres Show faced serious allegations in 2020, which claimed that the atmosphere on the set was toxic. DeGeneres then decided in 2022 how to end the recording of her own talk show, which was broadcast for 19 years, and since then she has hardly appeared on TV.
Only three of them had no private or business problems
The former Hollywood couple also weren’t lucky. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie divorced in 2019, but that was not the end of the problems. Since the beginning of 2022, they have been in court over a winery in France, and they also started a child custody battle, in the middle of which Jolie accused Pitt of verbally and physically abusing her and some of their children during a flight from France to the United States (U.S.) in 2016.
The acting diva Meryl Streep announced last year that since 2017 she has not been living with her husband Don Gummer, with whom she spent more than 40 years. Kevin Spacey’s career has been pretty stagnant since 2017, when he was accused of sexual assault. The actor has been accused of sexual assault several times, but has so far been acquitted of all charges.
Jennifer Lawrence was targeted by hackers who published her nude photos. Bradley Cooper split from his partner Irina Shayk, and his latest film Maestro was met with mixed reviews.
Film critics point out that Julia Roberts has not made a particularly good film in the last decade, moreover, they consider them considerable failures. The only ones whose careers remained intact in those ten years are Channing Tatum, Lupita Nyong’o and Jared Leto, N1 writes.
