Three Sisters, three Medals

During this calendar year, in our and your morning program, with great pleasure, we promoted many young, successful athletes. Some of them will remember this year 2024 for a long time, and among them are the three talented Sipović sisters who are successfully involved in karate. The three of them won three medals at the European Championship earlier this year, and that is one of the most positive BiH sports stories this year.

When three sisters perform in one tournament, it is a great success, but when three sisters win three medals in the same tournament, it is a success that will never be forgotten. Although the Sipović sisters have won hundreds of medals throughout their careers, they will always remember their performances in Georgia with pleasure.

Nejra SIPOVIĆ, karate player

“The one that is most important to me is the European medal because it is my third medal in the collection of European medals. I also managed to climb to the second place in the world ranking of the best junior seniors in my category, so it is extremely important for me. At that competition, my sisters and I achieved a historic result because it was the first time in the history of karate that three sisters won three European medals.”

Emina SIPOVIĆ, karate player

“The most beloved medal in the most beloved competition is the medal from the European championship that took place at the beginning of the year. It was a special feeling for me because I became the European champion for the first time and it is truly an indescribable feeling when you put your hand on your heart, when the anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina is sung, when you see your flag being raised, then you simply realize that you have achieved the goal you always wanted.”

Ajla SIPOVIĆ, karateka

“My favorite medal is of course the medal from the European Championship, so second place. That was something new for me, it was my first European medal and it was all new for me. Both the final and the new experience, so I single that out as my favorite medal.”

Proud parents who are also coaches, and brothers and sisters who are always there for each other.

Zijad SIPOVIĆ, father and coach

“It’s something special, it can’t be described. I had both motivation and desire. We worked a lot, that is, they dedicated themselves to school and especially to sports. They have two, sometimes even three training sessions a day. Nothing is accidental. They have big European and world medals behind them. So nothing is accidental, it’s about 10 to 15 years of work.”

The goal is to avoid injuries in the coming period, and to continue working hard and training together because each new performance will be an opportunity for a new medal.
