Tineke Strik, a member of the European Parliament (MEP) from the Netherlands, who was among the first to welcome the introduction of sanctions against Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Presidency member Milorad Dodik and the Alternative Television linked to him, spoke again about the situation in BiH.
”Incidents and illegal marking of the Day of Republika Srpska (RS) are the latest proof that the current European Union (EU)strategy towards BiH does not contribute to any of Dodik’s de-escalation and that a fundamental change is needed. The EU urgently needs to develop a strategy based on democracy and the rule of law, starting with sanctioning Dodik and those who pose a threat to BiH’s security and stability.
It is crucial that the citizens of BiH get a vote on the future of their country, a key element of the renewed strategy is to ensure free, fair, and democratic elections in October, ” Strik concluded.
