One of the famous British retailers of classic cars – House Tom Hartley JNR – announced sale of a fantastic car which is interesting to all the citizens of the former Yugoslavia.
This is a Mercedes 600 Pullman Landaulet from 1971, a car that belonged to former President of Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito.
This is a special car even for the standards of Pullman, car body workshops that were making the presidential Mercedes cars.
In fact, this is one of only 59 ever made Pullman Landaulets, and one of only nine copies of models with six doors and long canvas roof, which had the nickname “presidential Landaulets”.
In the book by Miroslav Milutinovic “Cars and Tito” was said that this car was delivered to “the greatest son of Yugoslav peoples” on the 17th of May 1971.
After Tito’s death, the car ended up in Brioni, before the Management of this island sold to an unknown foreign buyer Mercedes 600 Pullman Landaulet with chassis number 001854 in June 1989.
In the past 27 years, Tito’s Mercedes changed several owners, and finally ended with Tom Hartley who is seeking a new buyer at an unknown price.
