At today’s SDA Convention, the President, Deputy and Eight Vice-Presidents will be elected.
The Central Committee, instead of the SDA Congress, decided this on 19 January.
The SDA Presidency unanimously supported the suggestion to elect again the current President Sulejman Tihić and Deputy Bakir Izetbegović.
Instead of the current five Vice-Presidents, Eight will be chosen.
On the list are: Sadik Ahmetović, Šefik Džaferović, Adil Osmanović, Safet Softić, Senad Šepić, Salko Selman, Asim Sarajlić and Sanjin Halimović.
It is anticipated that there will be a secret voting in choosing the SDA President, his Deputy and Vice-Presidents, and after the Convention there will be a session of the Main that is elected by the Party’s statute.
The announced agenda of today’s Convention is the program platform for ‘current priorities for actions of SDA’ in the period from 2013-2015.
The President of SDA, Sulejman Tihić, said that the Convention will be the program-election, and that a political document and stance on various issues in the state will be adopted, from the “Sejdić – Finci” implementation, reform of the FBiH, reorganization of Mostar, and the BiH census.
The current member of the SDA Presidency and candidate for the Deputy to the SDA President Bakir Izetbegović, in an interview for FENA, said that a compromise will be made to divide the impact 50-50, which hasn’t been seen until now in BiH political practice.
As a response to the question whether it can function, he said that this 50-50 relationship will be applied only to the SDA Presidency.
‘’This is where President Sulejman Tihić and I agree on most of the names. The SDA members, President Tihić and I have, with a decade of trials learned to be patient and to accept compromises. Life circumstances did not corrupt the party, nor the two of us. SDA does not have ideological divisions, but there are differences in party views when it comes to leadership. I believe that Tihić and I can bridge those divides, put another plan in place, and work for the people and the state. We can unite SDA on this platform’’, said Izetbegović.
