It is the anniversary of the crimes committed in 1992 and 1993 in the locality of Kazani.
On this occasion, the Association for Social Research and Communications (UDIK) reminded the public of the murdered Sarajevo citizens, expressing regret for the unprincipled dealing with the past by representatives of the City of Sarajevo.
They call on the city authorities to correct the mistake that occurred, as they stated, by not entering relevant information on the memorial plaque in Kazan, noting that it was placed with an incomplete number of names and without specifying the perpetrators of the crime.
Therefore, they note that the Association will send another request to the city to erect a memorial plaque at the St. Joseph cemetery. It is the place of re-exhumation of the victims, exhumed in the localities of Kazani, Gaj and Grm Malina.
The murders of civilians, most of whom were Serbs, were committed by members of the 10th Mountain Brigade of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, under the command of Mušan Topalović Caco, in the locality of Kazani on Trebević. They were brought above the pit where they were killed with fire and cold weapons, after which their bodies were thrown into the pit.
So far, 14 soldiers of the RBiH Army have been sentenced to sentences ranging from 10 months to six years in prison for crimes in Kazani.
The text written on the monument in Kazani caused numerous discussions, because the plaque does not mention the perpetrators of the crime, nor the nationality of the victims, but only their names.
So far, the remains of 29 victims have been exhumed from the pit at Kazani, and it is suspected that the number of victims is higher.
