Representatives of the Mountaineering Association of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will organize on 17th and 18th August two-day International Orienteering competition OSOC 2013 at the Big Field, Igman mountain, Sarajevo.
On the first day of competition will be held the first start race for the middle distance on Big Field, and second day the first start race on sprint distance between Sarajevo – Main Park and will take place a solemn proclamation of the winners.
There are three competitive categories; category for men, for women and open category. The open category includes all beginners of all ages of both sexes.
During the competition will be used “sportldent electronic system” for timing and results processing.
Based on the overall results after two days of competition, the first three places in all categories will receive medals.
“B&H is the only country in the region that does not have its Orienteering Federation, and in that regard we have created two tickets for the upcoming competition” said the vice president of the Working Group for South East Europe Orienteering Valentin Garkov.
He pointed out that in the competition it will be shown what Orienteering is and how beneficial is sport.
Chairman of the Working Group for South East Europe Orienteering Zoran Milovanović said they are intensively working for B&H to get its team and to become a full member of the International Orienteering Federation in accordance with all international standards.
“We have two tickets to Orienteering. The first is the Big Field on Igman, because that area meets all the conditions, and the second is the center of Sarajevo, because such areas are suitable for Sprint Orienteering”, explained Milovanović.
He hopes that this competition will become a tradition, and one day to become a major international competition.
