Tourism: Recorded Increase for Overnight Stays in Sarajevo Canton

Sarajevo (1)Sarajevo Canton was visited by 13,472 tourists in January 2015, which is a 5% increase compared  to  January  last year.

Tourists recorded 29,333 overnight stays, which is 11.1% more compared to the same period for the last year.

In the structure of total tourist arrivals to the Sarajevo Canton, 75.6% are by foreign tourists and 24.4% by domestic tourists.

Most foreign tourists came from Croatia (36.2%), from Turkey (8.8%), from Slovenia (5.8%), from Serbia (4.9%) and from  South Korea (4.7%). In the structure of total tourist overnight stays, 79.2% were by, and 20.8% by domestic tourists.

In the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourists, most overnight stays were by tourists from Croatia (33.4%), from Turkey (8%), from Serbia (6.6%), from Slovenia (5.1%) and from the USA (4.1%). The average stay of tourists was 2.1 nights.

Tourists who stayed longest are from the following countries: India 9.8 days, Estonia 8.3 days, Finland 7.4 days, Ireland 6.7 days, United Arab Emirates 6.7 days, Saudi Arabia 4.4 days, Kuwait 3.7 days, and Bahrain 3.5 days. The aforementioned are  data from the Touristic Association of the Sarajevo Canton.

Sarajevo Canton has been visited in January 2015 by tourists from 83 countries.

Utilization of accommodation facilities was 23.3% in terms of room occupancy, and 10.9% in terms of bed occupancy.
