The tourist season in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and Neum is showing a trend of success which exceeded last year’s results.
According to the statements of the owners of accommodation facilities in the only B&H city on the seaside, locals can be satisfied with the summer which is not over yet.
“When it comes to the whole canton, the season is at the level of last year’s, and maybe a bit better considering the number of guests and arrivals,” said the Manager of the Tourist Board of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Andrija Krešić.
Furthermore, said Krešić, Neum will probably record better results when it comes to the tourism than it was the case in the summer of 2014.
“The restaurant owners state that the season is better for 10-15 % than last year. Pre-season was good, the season is very good, and the hotels are already booked for the month of September as well,” said Krešić.
However, we cannot discuss the specific numbers due to the fact that there are certain differences in the data that are refuting each other.
“We have the data of the registered guests, and there are also data in the statistics, as well as the indicators for the payment of residential tax. However, it has nothing to do with each other. The information we have are from the stories, our own observations and follows-up on the field,” said Krešić.
Manager of the Tourist Board of HNC explained everything in example.
The problem of owners of accommodation not reporting their guests is commonly known.
“For example, the payment of residential tax is less than in the last year, and the number of visits is higher. Also, the sales outside of the accommodations are not significantly increased. Because of this, it does not represent an indicator,” concluded Krešić.
