Restaurateurs and hoteliers in Neum expect this year to be a record year for tourism. After several seasons of struggling withthe problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic in tourism, business people in the tourism industry of this municipality are very optimistic about the increase in the number of tourists visiting Neum already in the pre-season.

This year’s increase in the number of tourists will largely be related to the fact that the measures related to COVID have been lifted throughout the region, so this trend is expected to continue during the summer months, as tourists return to their old habits.

It was invested in improving the quality of services, and also, many restaurateurs and hoteliers in Neum have invested in improving the quality of their services, which has contributed to increasing their attractiveness for tourists.

Capacities are already full. “We are already making arrangements for the next season, since this season is almost 80 percent full as far as announcements are concerned. The partners have literally booked everything that can be booked, we still have guests who make last minute reservations,” points out Davor Kresic, director of sales and marketing of the Sunce hotel. The first man of this municipality, Dragan Jurkovic, confirmed that they have the same opinion in the Municipality of Neum. “From May 1st to December 1st, the capacities are full.

OThe record 2019 should be a thing of the past, so the record year could be 2023,” says Jurkovic. The local government in Neum has made additional efforts to improve the infrastructure, including the construction of new roads and parking lots, to facilitate access to the city and improve the tourist offer. Theyare working on the infrastructure. “Together with tourism workers and hoteliers, we are trying to improve the level of service and improve the arrival conditions of people who will be there on vacation. Our long term plan was to study the expansion of the coastal strip, that is, the beach area, and I hope that we will have it this year, that is, next year,” adds Jurkovic.
