mostarWithin the development of the Communication Strategy of the City of Mostar, the first meeting aimed at increasing efficiency and ensuring transparency in the work of professional services of the City Administration was held.

The Head of the Department for organization, legal affairs, general administration, civil protection and firefighting of City of Mostar, Predrag Supljeglav, said that this project, which the City Administration of Mostar implements in cooperation with the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, should continue over the next year, and its implementation will result in improvements of the internal communication within the city administration, as well as of the external communication.

According to Supljeglav’s words, when it comes to communication of the City Administration to the public and the media, it was concluded that it is not systematic as well as that there is substantial space for improvement of the communication.

– What makes the city administration generally dissatisfied is the attitude of the media towards the work of the administration. The media writes a lot more about the negative than the positive things – said Supljeglav.

OSCE Spokesperson, Meri Musa, pointed out that the transparency of local communities is essential for citizens’ participation in public life of the City.

– Access to information is one of the basic preconditions for a more active involvement of citizens in the life of local community, and we hope that the work on the Strategy will continue under the schedule. Implementation of the strategy will result in greater transparency of the work of city services and involvement of citizens in the discussions of public interest – Musa added.
