Trump accuses Obama of Coup, calls for His Prosecution

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday accused former President Barack Obama of orchestrating a coup against him, suggesting there should be “severe consequences” and calling on authorities to “go after him”.

Speaking alongside Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos in the Oval Office, Trump answered a question about controversial financier Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted of child sex trafficking, shifting the focus to Obama.

“The witch hunt you should be talking about is that they got President Obama,” he said.

“What they did to this country … starting in 2016 but … all the way to 2020 … they tried to rig the election and they got caught and there should be very severe consequences for that,” Trump said.

He also accused Obama of direct involvement, claiming that “Obama was directly caught…His orders are on paper. The papers are signed.”

Trump suggested that what officials have in their hands is not just evidence, but “irrefutable evidence that Obama was insurgent, that Obama… was trying to lead a coup”.

The current US president claimed that Obama, along with Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, were behind the criminal operation, and that Obama was the “ringleader”.

“What they did in 2016 and 2020 is criminality of the highest order,” he added.

“They tried to steal the election. They tried to obfuscate the election. They did things that nobody has ever imagined, even in other countries,” Trump said.
