United States President Donald Trump has announced that Pakistan and India have reached a full and immediate ceasefire after several days of intense fighting.

“After a long night of negotiations mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire. I congratulate both countries for their common sense and determination,” Trump wrote on social media.

Shortly after Trump’s announcement, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the deal.

“Pakistan and India have reached an agreement on a ceasefire with immediate effect. Pakistan has always stood for peace and security in the region, without compromising its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Dar said on Platform X.

India’s Secretary of State for External Affairs Vikram Misri also confirmed the deal.

“It has been agreed that both sides will cease all firing and military activities on land, sea and air from 5 pm Indian Standard Time,” Misri said.

This development came hours after Pakistan launched an operation on Saturday morning in response to Indian military strikes on Tuesday on what New Delhi called terrorist targets inside Pakistani territory.
