After declaring war on paper straws, Donald Trump announced that he would similarly take on Biden’s decisions regarding light bulbs, sinks, showers, and toilets.
In a post on the social media Truth Social, Trump once again criticized former President Joe Biden over a series of decisions related to energy efficiency.
“With this, I am directing Secretary Lee Zeldin to immediately reinstate my environmental protection orders, which Joe Biden revoked, regarding standards and water flow for sinks, showers, toilets, washing machines, dishwashers, etc.,” Trump said.
In this United States (U.S.) administration, Zeldin serves as the head of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy, making him responsible for establishing efficiency standards for consumer products and appliances.
Namely, during Biden’s term, the White House introduced several regulations that raised product standards, including new dishwashers and washing machines. This decision was made in line with Biden’s environmental protection policy.
In 2023, the department also enacted regulations banning the production and sale of traditional incandescent light bulbs, advocating for a complete transition to LED bulbs.
