The United States (U.S.) Republican presidential candidate and former president Donald Trump has said that “getting along” with North Korea and Russia is a “good thing”.
At the rally in Pennsylvania, Trump also commented on the statement of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris that she will not “please dictators”.
Trump also recalled his 2019 meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in the demilitarized zone of South Korea, noting that during the visit he even briefly entered the territory of North Korea.
“I got along with Kim Jong Un of North Korea. Remember I walked there as the first person ever to go there from this country,” Trump said.
“We also looked at its nuclear capabilities. They are very significant. You know, it’s good to get along, it’s not a bad thing,” he added.
His statement followed a speech by Harris, who criticized Trump for often bragging about his personal relationship with Kim Jong Un, noting that she would not “please tyrants and dictators like Kim Jong Un who root for Trump.”
The presidential election in the U.S. will be held on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024.
