The President of the United States of America (USA) Donald Trump repeated last night his controversial proposal to move Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to neighboring Egypt and Jordan.

“I would like to take them to live in an area where they can live without harassment, riots and violence,” Trump told reporters at the White House.

Trump said he had discussed the issue with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

“When you look at the Gaza Strip, it has been hell for so many years. There were various civilizations in that area. It didn’t start here. It started thousands of years ago, and there was always violence associated with it. They could take those people to live in areas that are much safer and maybe much better and maybe much more comfortable,” Trump said.

He announced that he would discuss the issue with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is expected to visit the US soon.

Trump made his controversial proposal on Saturday, suggesting it was time to “clean up” the Gaza Strip and relocate Palestinians to Jordan and Egypt.

The Palestinian, Jordanian and Egyptian authorities have categorically rejected Trump’s proposal.

Arab League, Slovenia, Germany, Great Britain and Spain also rejected Trump’s controversial proposal, saying that Palestinians have the right to return and that all attempts to uproot them from their territory have failed.

Trump’s proposal came a week after a ceasefire agreement in Gaza came into effect on the 19th. January, halting the Israeli war in which more than 47,300 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed and more than 111,000 injured since October 7, 2023, AA writes.
